I joined the club in 2011 after moving to the region from Derby, where I was playing for a number of teams. I enjoy playing in both attack and defence, but generally find myself in GD/GK for Storm.

I've played for Winchester Netball Club for many years, in several teams! Prior to playing for Winchester I captained Kent University 1st team and briefly played for Titan's netball team in the South Hants prem league.  My main positions are C/WA but have been known to play pretty much all other positions when required!
Jo Batey Member profile Jo Batey
Jo Batey has been with the club since it began as a 10 week Back to Netball initiative funded by Winchester City Coucil. Coming from a basketball background it took her some time to stop dribbling the ball and snatching it out of other players hands. Her shot still looks more like a basketball shot than a traditional netball one after more than 10 years of playing! Jo is what is known as a bit of a 'one trick pony' in terms of playing positions having predominantly played GA throughout her time at the club. Occasional stints at GS and GD have also been known, but these have been the exception rather than the rule!

I have played team sports competitively for many years back in my home county of Essex. At my peak I was even selected for the England Netball Development squad! Ah, those were the days...
I chose basketball over netball at uni and captained the squad to success but soon returned to my first love - netball - with a few tenacious traits to add to my game.
Having moved to the area recently, I'm thoroughly enjoying my time at Winchester; playing in attack or representing those under 6ft in the shooting circle.

I joined Winchester netball Club in September 2013 as part of the Storm squad and am very much looking forward to playing in the Hampshire league. I have previously played in the Worthing, Portsmouth and Southampton leagues as I have moved around quite a lot. I play GA/GS.

I joined WNC in March 2014 and have played in their 2 summer leagues. I have played netball for 17 years and represented the Hampshire North county squad as a teen. I have played in the Basingstoke, Farnborough and Southampton leagues. My position has changed a few times, however WD and C are now my favourites!

I am looking forward to playing with Storm in the Hampshire league. I mainly play in centre court, however have been known to play in the shooting circle.

Started playing netball when I was 7 throughout school where I played GD. Represented Dubai A+B squads at the Inter-gulf Netball Championship for 2 years. Stopped playing netball during university and concentrated on rugby league and union where I gained 2 caps for England Students 7s, 4 caps for England Students RL, and 3 caps for the England senior squad during the Rugby League World Cup 2013, part of the London and South East regional academy for rugby union for 2 years and England 7s academy for 1 year. Had one year out due to a bad knee injury. Now I'm back playing netball for my first season at Winchester from anywhere from C to GA in Storm, and I'm still playing lots of rugby in the Premiership for Richmond and academies.

After moving to Winchester I joined Winchester Netball Club - about 3 years ago now. I enjoy the club's training nights where all teams train together, and playing matches with the Lightning girls. I actually like getting up early on a Saturday morning, even if the weather isn't too good, to play netball for Lightning.

I have played - in defence -  for Winchester since it formed, back in the River Park days...
